Jun 30, 2015· Lubed pellets are supposed to lose velocity in high powered PCP's due to the viscosity and surface tension, but it's necessary to lube an antimony alloy pellet at those velocities to avoid lead fouling. In low powered guns, there's no need to lube, but there has been some testing that shows increased velocity and lowered ESD.

I would like to start by saying I've used .177 caliber pellet loaders many times and I was excited to receive this one because of the metal construction although immediately upon using I noticed the tip is actually just a piece of rubber tubing stretched over the tip of the metal and as I push the pallets down With the very flimsy pushrod the rubber tip pops off are used superglue to put the ...
Swaged Pellets. Swaged pellets are nicely formed and accurate ammunition for high powered PCP air rifles and pellet guns. These pellets, often referred to as bullets or slugs, are formed in a swaging machine. Using cold lead, a core is placed into the die and pressed from top and bottom to form it into a pellet.
Here the pellet is seated deep into the breech. If you don't own a pellet seater, a common Bic ball-point pen (a Biro in Europe) will work quite well. It pushes the pellet into the correct depth and stops when the sides of the pen contact the rifling. So, it seats to the same depth, pellet after pellet.
Jul 31, 2021· Why isn't there a JSB-level quality pellet-maker in the US? There are first-rate quality slugs being made in the US. Why did a small Easter-European company (in a country with long airgun traditions) have to come along 20 years ago to revolutionize and "force" the pellet-making industry to start offering first-rate quality pellets to the masses?
NOE molds are the best I have used so far . My 368-285gc RG4 mold is a true masterpiece! Bullets cast from it are round, and the RG4 pins cast perfect hollow point, cup point and flat point bullets. Bullets drop easily from all cavities. Bullets are within +- 1/2 grain of each other.

The pellets themselves glow like little jewels, are beautifully consistent and spherical. It isn't enough to have spherical pellets, but it is a good start. The idea is to keep them consistent in size and shape as much as possible until they reach the target. Lead shot deforms lead shot.
Dec 17, 2019· Select an airy, dry, fire-safe area to work in. Always melt lead in a well-ventilated area that's at least 8 ft (2.4 m) clear of flammable materials, as the process can create dangerous fumes and present a serious fire hazard. An isolated outdoor patch of dry dirt, sand, or concrete is a good choice. Do not melt lead indoors, especially if it's connected in any way to living space. The ...

Apr 13, 2018· As a retiree I was very interested in this "HEN" swaging set up I've time and lead and all the tools necessary to cast the small lead wire slugs to swage the "pellets". But not the source of the 20 pellet swaging mold. I like to buy 2, one to form the "slugs" like those Huben uses to …
Feb 15, 2018· You can switch to an unchoked TJ's or similar bore to take advantage of making your own or buying custom slugs from others, but results aren't a sure thing. If you are talking .257 and bigger than yes, thats the way to fly, but trying to make pellets for .177-.30 is about a waste at this point in time.

Feb 27, 2013· And that's not counting the need for a scale accurate enough to reliably sort the finished product, and measuring tools that can measure the soft parts without reshaping them. Personally, I see the quality of the mass produced pellets and bullets as a bit of a modern miracle. Cheers. Trev. 02-27-2013, 04:46 PM #16.
Mar 20, 2020· Each pellet and calibre of pellet will have an average weight measured in grains. The idea is to weigh each pellet and reject those that are "outliers" and fall outside the limits of the mean weight. If say a .177 pellet weighs 8.6-gr, a plus or minus weight of 0.2-gr will not make much difference to velocity or accuracy.
The Pellet Tool is a very useful all-in-one tool. It can be used for .177 / .20 / .22 / .25 cal pellet. You may now save that bent skirt with the (Round End) on your favorite Pellet. Wouldn't it be nice to shoot cans with the cheaper pellets and not have a flier from a bent skirt? It can assist
A 2-S ogive is a typical pointed pellet shape, with 4-S and 6-S being reserved for longer and heavier slugs. Most jacketed rifle bullets are about 6-S ogive. The length along the centerline grows progressively shorter with each increasing change in the arc length, until by the time you reach 10-S, 12-S, 14-S etc. the difference in length is ...

To make my bullets, I use lead wheel weights, 'found' bullets from the range, and lead ingots. Wheel weights are getting more difficult to find since recycling is so rewarding. When the fed made lead shot illegal for ducks, I suddenly found myself in possession of a ton of lead shot- perfect for making …

Shot is a collective term for small balls or pellets, often made of lead. These were the original projectiles for shotguns and are still fired primarily from shotguns and less commonly from riot guns and grenade launchers, although shot shells are available in many pistol calibers in a configuration called "birdshot", "rat-shot", or "snake shot".Lead shot is also used for a variety of other ...
Jun 17, 2016· The first stage in JSB pellet manufacturing is to source the raw material. JSB buys lead ingots (photo above) that are 99.97% pure. The lead ingots are then melted and a small percentage of Antimony added to make to make a lead alloy. This step gives JSB pellets optimal hardness and a pleasing, shiny appearance.
Mar 24, 2007· The gate for the lead is a narrow cut on the edge of the driving band, and there is not much of a place to puddle the lead, which makes it hard to fill the cavity. Since the sprue stays at the edge of the casting, and the spitzer point goes full depth into the second block, the rare well-filled casting doesn't come out without a lot of persuasion.
