The chalcopyrite and talc minerals used in the experiments were taken from copper ore deposits of the Donggua Mountain in China. In order to conduct the experiments of the flotation kinetics, the chalcopyrite and talc samples in large bulk were first comminuted in a jaw crusher, subsequently ground in a ceramic mill, and then sieved into 5–38 μm size fraction.
Oct 20, 2020· Chalcopyrite (CuFeS 2) is the major sulphide mineral for Cu extraction, containing about 70 % of total copper reserves globally within all types of copper bearing ore in mineral processing [,, ].The chalcopyrite has to be enriched by flotation, otherwise smelting would not be applicable.
Apr 03, 2018· Flotation of ultrafine chalcopyrite can be improved by processing the ore with (1) split-circuit design and (2) intense agitation conditioning before flotation. At equivalent or even lower collector consumption, a split circuit flotation design, treating the plus 38- and minus 38-µm-size ore individually, recovered 93 pct of the copper in a 28 ...
Keywords: talc, chalcopyrite, flotation, separation, carboxymethyl chitosan Introduction Talc is a common gangue of copper-nickel sulfide ores around the world. Talc easily floats into a concentrate because of its surface hydrophobicity (Shortridge et al., 2000; Beattie et al., 2006). The Dongguashan copper mine is located in Tongling city, China.
Figure 5 shows the relationship between the flotation time and recovery of chalcopyrite, bornite, chalcocite, covellite, atacamite, and native copper in Sample E. Figure 5 shows that the recovered minerals were chalcopyrite, chalcocite, covellite, and bornite. Meanwhile, atacamite and native copper were the least floatable minerals.
Mar 01, 2020· The innovative flotation deinking process uses a spray to deliver the frothing agent during flotation deinking to control several key process variables. The spray can control the foam stability and structure and modify the fluid dynamics to reduce the fibers entrapped in the froth layer.
Selective flotation of chalcopyrite from pyrite is possible at pH=10 and is impossible at pH=4. ! Recovery of the selective flotation for chalcopyrite with TC is significantly higher than with DTP.Electrophoretic light scattering is a useful technique to study heterocoagulation, non-coagulation interactions and to diagnose flotation selectivity ...
Flotation feed for selective flotation experiments was prepared by blending the chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite minerals in a 1:1 ratio. Table 2 provides the selective flotation results. A significant improvement in the grade of concentrate compared with feed before flotation revealed that an improved selective separation of chalcopyrite from ...
Apr 01, 2019· Chalcopyrite flotation. Mineral encapsulation. Critical encapsulation diameter. 1. Introduction. It is well known that in the froth flotation process, recovery is a strong function of particle size. Fig. 1 shows characteristic data from Gaudin et al., 1931, Jowett, 1980, for the flotation of galena. Similar behaviour is observed with other ...
Sep 01, 2020· The flotation results indicated that L-cysteine exhibited stronger depressing ability than the conventional chalcopyrite depressants of Na 2 S, NaHS and sodium thioglycolate, suggesting it could become a promising potential depressant in the selective flotation separation of molybdenite from chalcopyrite.
Feb 01, 2021· Chalcopyrite is a widely distributed copper-iron sulfide mineral, often containing trace amounts of gold, silver and other minerals, and is the main copper-containing mineral. With the deepening of mining, low grade polymetallic refractory chalcopyrite has become an important source of copper ore. Now, let's know the common chalcopyrite flotation processes together.
The results of chalcopyrite and molybdenite flotation and OM adsorption (Figure 5 and XPS study) on these two minerals indicate that, first, OM adsorption is the cause of the depression of mineral flotation in agreement with similar observations that the adsorption of hydrophilic macromolecules such as humic acid, lignosulfonate, guar gum or ...
Mar 17, 2011· Collectorless flotation of chalcopyrite observed under oxidizing conditions using air is thought to be prevalent even in the presence of a collector obscuring the selectivity of the process. Leaching of the mixtures of bornite and chalcopyrite at mass ratios of 1:1, 1:3 and 3:1 are
flotation tailings and can be readily recovered by flotation with different flotation reagents. When amyl xanthate is used, 85% of chalcopyrite can be recovered with a copper grade of 14.5% in a single-stage froth flotation. The chalcopyrite flotation concentrate can be sent back to chloride leaching circuits.
Aug 01, 1990· The mechanisms of chalcopyrite oxidation in alkaline solutions have been studied using cyclic voltammetry and impedance spectroscopy techniques. The cyclic voltammetry was used to elucidate oxidation/reduction reactions, whereas impedance spectroscopy was used for in-situ characterization of the interface. To analyze the impedance spectra, equivalent circuit models were …
The flotation of chalcocite, bornite, chalcopyrite, and pyrite has been studied in a microflotation cell in which the potential of a bed of the mineral particles could be controlled electromechanically. The ethylxanthate-induced flotation of each mineral is markedly dependent on electrochemical potential, with the recovery changing from 0 to 100 pct in potential intervals of - 0.2 V.
Jun 06, 2012· A further series of flotation tests has been undertaken on chalcopyrite/quartz and bornite/quartz mixtures to investigate the effect of increasing salinity by comparing the flotability in distilled water, brackish water, sea water and hypersaline water.
Leaching of the chalcopyrite ore had little effect on its floatability, as indicated by rougher flotation testing. The maximum flotation recoveries, RMAX, were 90% and 88% for the ore and leached ...
The chalcopyrite sample used in all the experiments was obtained from Chitradurga Copper Mines (Karnataka, India). It was subjected to a series of concentration procedures such as froth flotation, heavy media separation and isodynamic separation and only the …
Jul 18, 2013· Batch flotation tests were also carried out on a chalcopyrite ore and a chalcopyrite-galena scavenger concentrate using dextrin. Dextrin adsorption isotherms on two types of surfaces of pyrite show that the greater the initial surface density of iron hydroxides, the higher the adsorption of …
Jan 01, 2017· High level Eh or dissolved oxygen provides more energies to prompt the collector-induced and self-induced flotation of chalcopyrite . Moreover, the Eh 290 mV at pH 10 obtained in position B was an appropriate potential for chalcopyrite flotation, consistent with the studies of Heyes and Basilio . Particle size analyses
Jun 20, 2021· Zinc sulfate depressed talc flotation when the pH was greater than about 7.5 and 2 × 10 −3 mol/L ZnSO 4 was used; while zinc sulfate had a slight effect on chalcopyrite flotation. In the presence of 2 × 10 −3 mol/L ZnSO 4, the binary mixed minerals of chalcopyrite and talc were separated, and chalcopyrite was enriched in the concentrates.
Nov 27, 2020· The flotation recovery of chalcopyrite and arsenopyrite in concentrate and tailings after flotation of mixed minerals are shown in Table 2. It can be seen from Table 2 that the flotation recovery of chalcopyrite in concentrate products is about 71%, while the flotation recovery of arsenopyrite is less than 29%. Compared with the results of ...

The flotation of many species is strongly influenced by pulp potential, with the flotation of chalcopyrite (as an example) best at oxidising (or positive) potentials around 300mV (SHE). At these potentials, the adsorption of xanthate onto chalcopyrite is increased and thus flotation kinetics enhanced.
