AbstractPercolation leaching using acidified ferric chloride solutions was able to extract, under optimum conditions, nearly of the zinc and over 75% of the lead contained in a massive, pyritic Zn-Pb-Cu ore. The over-all leaching rate was controlled by the rate of delivery of the fe'lTic ion oxidant; zinc dissolution occurred in preference to that of either lead or copper.
copper was extracted from a chrysocolla ore assaying 0.6 per cent copper in about 70 days of leaching with medium strength (3 per cent) thiosulfate solution. Sixty per cent recovery of the oxide copper was obtained on a calcareous sulfide-oxide ore assaying 0.815 per cent total copper and 0.508 per cent oxide copper in 30 days of leaching with 3

PERCOLATION LEACHING OF A CHALCOPYRITE .BEARING ORE AT AMBIENT AND ELEVATED TEMPERATURES WITH BACTERIA By B. W. Madsen, 1 and R. D. Groves 2 ABSTRACT The Bureau of Mines conducted a large-scale (6.4 t), long-term (2,165 days) test to gain a better understanding of the leaching characteris
1. Dimensionless criteria and numbers have been derived, the numerical values of which determine the mass transfer processes during the percolation leaching of a packing of coarse ore particles. The rate of chemical dissolution and the mechanism of transfer of the mineral into a soluble form have been considered. 2. As an example, the leaching of a copper sulfide ore with sulfuric acid has ...
Percolation leaching made it possible to extract up to 43 and 47% of Cu and Zn from the first sample. Extraction rate was maximum during the leaching with 1 and 2.5% sulfuric acid solutions. During the agitation leaching, the maximum extraction rate was reached with a 2.5% sulfuric acid solution (52 and 54% Cu and Zn), but the leaching rate ...

Mar 06, 2020· The chemical binder is one of the critical factors affecting ore agglomeration behavior and leaching efficiency. In this study, we investigated the effect of the type of binder and mass fraction of the H 2 SO 4 solution used on the curing, soaking, and leaching behavior of agglomerations. The results revealed that Portland cement (3CaO·SiO2, 2CaO·SiO2, and 3CaO·Al

May 23, 2017· PREPARATION OF THE COPPER ORE. This study is limited in general to percolation leaching as it is the most widely used method to give proper contact of solvent with the ore to effect extraction of the copper. One of the important factors in percolation leaching is the size reduction necessary for copper recovery within reasonable time limits.
Jun 22, 2019· The results of this study indicate that it takes about 8 times as long to heap leach a run-of-mine size oxide copper ore to its ultimate economic recovery as it does a crushed (minus ½, minus 1-inch, or minus 2-inch) sample leached by an upward percolation technique.
bacterial percolation leaching [7-10]. Peterson and Dixon [7] used small scale columns to study bioleaching of pyrite and chalcopy-rite ores at selected temperatures using bacterial consortia suited to those temperatures. They found that secondary copper sulfides would leach more rapidly than pyrite. Chalcopyrite, however, appeared to
- Percolation leaching of copper-cobalt oxidized ores has been demonstrated, as an altemative to actual sulphidization-flotation process at Luiswishi deposit - New concentrator of Kipushi (Republic Democratic of Congo). - Leaching test in column have demonstrated better recovery compared with leaching in stirred tank, which
Laboratory percolation tests studied the main parameters such as flow-rate, acid curing, acid concentration, copper recovery, acid consumption, concentrations in the pregnant leach solution. Results show a high and fast leaching of copper and a rather low and slow kinetic of cobalt leaching, due to the majority
Introduction Dump leaching refers to percolation leaching of copper from run-of-mine low-grade ores that have been piled on native ground. These dumps typically cover hundreds of acres and contain millions of tons of low-grade ore. The leaching cycle covers a span of many years.
A process for the extraction of copper from a copper ore or concentrate comprises first subjecting the ore or concentrate to agitation leaching at an elevated temperature and pressure in the presence of oxygen and water to obtain a resulting acidic leach liquor which contains dissolved copper. The acidity of the resulting acidic leach liquor is then reduced by affecting percolation leaching of ...
This proves that this percolation leaching is diffusion controlled leaching. For the leaching process to be completed, it will require a longer leaching time to leach all the copper metal in the ore. As per this experiment, the copper metal was not completely leached due to the limited time allocated for the leaching process. 7.0 REFERENCES 1.
Mar 26, 2008· Abstract. The general feasibility of ammoniacal percolation leaching of copper sulphide ores has been demonstrated. The rates are comparable to those of conventional ferric sulphate-sulphuric acid systems, but without the attendant problems of carbonate or iron dissolution, For the ore column heights studied, the copper leaching rate increased approximately as the square root of the total NH …
The objectives of any copper heap bacterial leaching should encompass the following main points: 1) Characterise ore for particle size, elemental composition, mineralogy, acid consumption and bioleaching potential. 2) Evaluate copper bioleaching in columns with crushed ore. 3) Characterise heat generation during sulfide oxidation

An ore sample containing 0.77 pct cu was leached in a fiberglass column by downward percolation of acidified ferric sulfate solutions. Three sets of leaching conditions were investigated: (1) ambient temperature leaching, (2) elevated temperature (50 deg to 60 deg c) leaching, and (3) elevated temperature leaching after inoculation with ...
Dec 01, 2012· This well-researched process recovers copper cyanide as a precipitate after cyanide leaching. This can be of benefit in those gold- and copper-bearing ores where the copper can interfere in the carbon-in-pulp recovery of the gold. There are many micro-organisms and other reagents that can be used in a percolation heap mode.

Jan 01, 2019· Heap leaching accounts for around 20% of the global production of copper. In heap leaching coarsely crushed ore particles are contacted with an aqueous lixiviant percolating through large packed beds (heaps) of the ore particles, with the loaded solution collected at the foot of the heap for metal recovery, solution make-up and recycle.
