Signature restaurant in Brooklyn is the new addition to the Signature group. I recently attended a foodie meet-up to celebrate its’ opening.
A gorgeous venue, beautifully decorated as you would expect.
Our 4 course meal was a wonderful selection of food, paired with a complimentary wine.
Course 1: Oyster Rockerfeller with Silverthorn The Green Man
Oysters, spinach and bacon with hollandaise sauce, served with braised onion and minced brawn on saffron blinis.
I did not really like the combination of food with the oyster, but I did enjoy the minced brawn on saffron blinis.
Course 2: Crispy Calamari Salad with KWV Mentors Range Chenin Blanc
My favourite savoury meal of the night. The calamari batter was light and very tasty. Served with pickled ribbon vegetables and an avocado & watercress foam, I would have eaten this as a main meal. The wine was a great choice for the seafood.
Course 3: Salmon Confit with Bourchard Finlyson Hannibal
Slightly underdone for my preference, but it had a pleasant flavour nonetheless. I was not overly keen on the wine as it seemed to be missing something for my taste.
Course 4: Fererro Rocher Tiramisu with Mullineux Straw Wine
This meal stole the show for me. The tiramisu was served with a strawberry and kiwi salsa and a chocolate fudge parfait with caramel gel. Sinfully delicious!
Our sommelier was a very passionate man with a good sense of humour. He took the time to explain the wines to us. He also told us that all Signature waitron have an introductory certificate in Wines so that the are better able to advise diners – very clever initiative.
The service is impeccable. Staff are efficient & professional. If you are looking for great food, and a low-key vibe, I highly recommend Signature.
